Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)

Intervention

An FBA provides more information about a students behavior and why they might be acting that way. The FBA helps indicate factors as to why their are having behavioral issues that may not be obvious, they provide data and analysis and help to develop a behavior plan for the student.

• used to reduce the risk of more behavioral or academic problems

How to use Intervention

• Start by obtaining an FBA form

• You will need to observe the student at least 4 times to collect data on their behavior

• Data you will be collecting will be from the student, parents, teachers, and other staff that work with the student.

• After you collect all the data and have created a theory for the unwanted behavior, you develop a Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP).
